YMCA youth sports programs fill kids' discretionary hours with positive activities and caring adult attention. Coaches-often volunteers, including many parents-emphasize teamwork and cooperation over winning at any cost, developing good values over being the next superstar.

Basketball and volleyball, both YMCA inventions , are popular youth programs, as are baseball, T-ball, soccer, martial arts, and progressive gymnastics. Other local options range from traditional sports like tennis and football to such newer inventions as wallyball, and racquetball. Some YMCAs offer programs for people with disabilities. Many YMCAs offer options for adults, too. For more

"Everyone Plays-Everyone Wins"

The YMCA Youth Sports Philosophy believes that more important than winning a game or having the best win/loss record is the participation, involvement and the playing of everyone who wishes to play. Our seven major goals are that each child...........

  1. ...has fun.
  2. ...is taught fair play, sportsmanship and respect.
  3. ...participates equally.
  4. ...is taught skills.
  5. ...is taught teamwork.
  6. ...is taught physical fitness.
  7. ...is taught to put competition into perspective.
